The Underwater World I Remember
The Underwater World I Remember begins with childhood memories of Istria and Italy; of entering the water and encountering a world that felt endless, luminous and alive.
Through collage, paint, dots and abstract forms, these memories are fragmented, layered and reassembled. The works move between recognition and abstraction, between what was experienced and what memory has transformed.
Beneath the vivid colours lies a contemporary tension: the sea we remember is not necessarily the sea that exists today. Ecosystems change, landscapes shift, and memory changes with us. What is real, what is remembered, and what is imagined become increasingly difficult to separate.
Rather than documenting or judging this transformation, the series stays in the space between past and present — using the sea as a place of memory, perception and emotional connection.
What remains is not a precise image of the sea, but the feeling of having once seen it through a child’s eyes.
